Dundee’s Reading Rooms nightclub was granted a half-hour extension on its licence, meaning it will open until 3am on Fridays and Saturdays.
Owner Jim Grieve had applied for an extension until 3.30am, but changed the application to a 3am licence and a 30-minute “cooling off period” during which the club may still play music and serve soft drinks.
Councillors voted 4-3 to extend the licence and not allow a cooling-off period.
Mr Grieve said: “I’m pleased the licensing board listened to our reasons and granted a 3am licence for Friday and Saturday nights at the Reading Rooms.
“I feel positive regards the comments made by certain members of the licensing board, licensing standard officers and Police Scotland, and hope that they may be willing to revisit our novel suggestion of a cool-down period after 3am.”
