The pair named locally as Bill Hawkes, 56, and son Ciaran, 14, were described as “inseparable” by friends. They were killed in a crash on the A91 near Auchtermuchty, on Sunday afternoon. They had been at the 26th Fife Association of Vintage Vehicle Owners Rally at Brucefield Farm, by Ladybank. Police were called to the scene at around 3.25pm on Sunday. The A91 was closed for approximately four hours to allow investigation and recovery work to be carried out. Ciaran was a fourth year pupil at Denny High School, Falkirk, and today hundreds of his classmates were called together to be told the news. For further tributes, see Wednesday’s Courier.
