Dundee residents suffer blackout after suspicious fire
ByStefan Morkis
Residents in the Lochee area of Dundee endured a night without electricity after fire-raisers started a blaze in the close.
Emergency services attended 585 South Road around 6.30pm on Wednesday night after receiving reports of a bin on fire in the communal entranceway.
By the time Scottish Fire and Rescue arrived the bin was well ablaze.
Fire crews were able to put out the fire quickly but the electricity supply to the block of flats had to be shut off overnight and will not be restored until later today.
No one was injured as a result of the fire.
The cause of the blaze has not yet been identified but police are treating it as suspicious.
Anyone with any information should call Police Scotland on 101, speak to any officer or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
