Cowdenbeath were last night boosted by the news that defender Thomas O’Brien will be available for tomorrow’s game at Livingston after his recent red card against Dumbarton was rescinded.
The centre back was shown a straight red card by referee Kevin Clancy for pulling Sons’ striker Chris Kane back in the 3-1 loss at home on December 27, with the visitors’ Garry Fleming going on to net the resulting free-kick to put the game beyond doubt.
However, the Fife club had argued that the presence of covering defenders meant O’Brien had not prevented a clear goalscoring opportunity.
News came from the SFA last night that Cowden’s appeal has indeed been successful, meaning the 23-year-old is available for the trip to bottom club Livi this weekend.
