The body of a man who had been missing for almost two weeks has been found in Crieff.
Police today confirmed that the body found near Mills of Earn in the town at about 7.45pm on Monday has been formally identified as being that of 77-year-old John Styles.
Mr Styles was last seen in Crieff on July 11, where his car was found abandoned. Extensive searches had been carried out in the following days.
A police spokesman said: “Mr Styles’ family would like to express their gratitude to the media and the public for their kind support during this recent ordeal, and also Tayside Police for the helpful, constructive, supportive and sensitive way the enquiry was handled.”
A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
