Trapped seagull gets Montrose firefighters in a flap

Tayside firefighters may be used to sending hearts into a flutter but a stubborn bird got the Montrose crew in a flap.
A seagull became stuck between chimney pots in Christie’s Lane sparking an emergency call from a member of the public.
One firefighter was nominated to scale a nine-metre ladder and was able to pluck the frightened bird to safety.
The call was received around 12.05pm on Thursday and staff from the Scottish SPCA were already on the scene when the crew arrived.
Animal rescue officer Stephanie Alexander said: “I was called to rescue a gull who had got himself wedged between a stack of chimney pots.
“Due to the height of the roof, I was unable to reach the bird, but the local fire and rescue service were happy to assist and he was freed without any injuries.
“He was weak at first but after a short spell of rest and recovery I was able to release him later that day.”
