Dundee nurses accused of misconduct attend hearing
ByAndrew Argo
Two Dundee care home nurses appeared at a misconduct hearing accused over failures in looking after residents.
Emily Murray McKay and Helen Hart Scroggie were at a fitness to practise panel of the Nursing and Midwifery Council in Edinburgh, which is expected to last four days.
McKay, a charge nurse, has to answer for her alleged actions with a resident and the urinary tract infection drug Trimethoprim.
She is said to have failed to identify that it was not recorded as administered, failed to identify that it had not been re-ordered and failed to take steps to re-order it.
She faces similar charges over the care of patients with the epilepsy drug Epanutin, Butrans patch painkillers, the insomnia drug Zopiclone and the painkiller codeine phosphate.
Scroggie, a staff nurse, faces accusations including failing to carry out a medication record check properly, not identifying that a resident’s Bendrofluxemthiazide water tablets had not been received and not arranging for a prescription to be obtained.
