A Dundee checkout operator stuffed wads of £20 notes down his socks as he embezzled more than £5,000 from Marks & Spencer.
Kristopher Kilmister (19) took the cash from tills at the Broughty Ferry branch and stuffed bundles of £20 notes into his socks.
At Dundee Sheriff Court, Kilmister, of Dickson Avenue, admitted embezzling £5,561 while employed at the Brook Street branch between September 8 and November 6 last year.
Depute fiscal Laura Bruce said: “Kilmister was employed by M&S as a sales assistant and part of his duties involved being a checkout operator.
“Managers in the Brook Street branch noticed money was missing as there was a shortfall. They put in place measures to ascertain what was happening and as a result they began to suspect Kilmister and began to monitor him.
“He was seen to remove money from a till drawer, put it in his trouser pocket and then move it to his sock.”
Kilmister was sentenced to a year-long supervision order and ordered to participate in the Venture Trust programme for 12 months.
