Tayside and Fife has woken up to another morning of snow disruption and there is a warning that it is here to stay.
Much of the country faces a white weekend with widespread snow storms and strong winds expected to dash Springtime plans.
Forecasters say most of the country will see up to 8cm of snow from Friday night.
It will be accompanied by strong winds of up to 65mph in Scotland.
Together with low temperatures hovering around four degrees, it continues a miserable March.
Wednesday may have been the spring equinox, but snow storms continued to blast parts of Tayside and Fife.
Despite predictions of a temporary respite, much of Perth and Kinross woke to further snow showers.
The flurries were particularly heavy north of Perth, with parts of Highland Perthshire worst affected.
Roads including the M90 and A9 experienced snowfall throughout much of the morning, causing difficult driving conditions and two vehicles were involved in a collision near Crook of Devon.
No one was injured in the incident, while a female driver also escaped injury after a vehicle overturned on the A9 near the Broxden roundabout.
The incident took place at 7.20am northbound on the ring road between the Broxden and Inveralmond roundabouts, just before the A85 turnoff.
There was some delay to traffic as the black Vauxhall Corsa was recovered.
A spokesperson for Tayside Police said no other vehicle was involved and the female occupant was not injured as a result.
In Angus, rural schools fell victim to the persistent wintry weather.
Early morning snow showers, following on from the whiteout on Monday, meant pupils at primary schools throughout the county had another day at home as access routes to outlying areas were cut off.
Airlie, Carmyllie, Cortachy, Eassie, Isla, Lethnot, Northmuir, Southmuir, Tannadice and Tarfside Primary Schools were all closed.
A broken down gritter blocked the inside lane on the A90 near Tealing early in the morning. Further disruption was caused to bus services in Angus after a broken down lorry at the Forfar Road in Dundee created delays for the Stagecoach 20 service.
Buses to Webster High School were also cancelled.
Tayside Police urged motorists to drive to the conditions and has warned of the dangers of ice on roads, particularly in the early morning.
Apart from a few snow flurries and a biting wind, the weather in Fife actually improved slightly.
Police said two cars were involved in a minor accident on the B925 Auchtertool road before 9am and injuries were described as “very minor”, though police were unable to say if the accident was caused by the weather.
