A former Scots Guard who threatened to cut off his ex-girlfriend’s head and “wear it as a hat” has been fined.
Scott Douglas, 25, of Upper Cottages, Balmalkie Farm, Carnoustie, made the threat to the woman by telephone on Christmas Day last year.
Douglas pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening and abusive manner when he appeared at Cupar Sheriff Court.
The court heard that Douglas, who spent a year and a half as a Scots Guard, had been drinking before making the call from Linksfield, Tayport, late in the evening.
He had been angered after his ex-partner had changed arrangements for their son to spend Christmas morning with him.
During the call he launched a tirade of abuse at the woman, threatened to kill her family, before saying he would break her arms and “cut off her head and wear it as a hat”.
Police were contacted and questioned Douglas, at which point he said: “I’ve just had too much to drink.”
Katrina Clark, defending, said: “It is a matter of regret to him and with regards to seeing their child there has been no further problems.”
Sheriff Charles Macnair fined Douglas £450.
