An Angus man who lashed out in a tussle with six police officers was allowed to go on a foreign holiday the next day, a court has been told.
Forfar Sheriff Court heard how Scott Livie was traced by police on the morning of September 8 on another matter, and they tried to take him to the police station.
Livie, 22, of Kemsley Place, Forfar, admitted resisting six police officers in the execution of their duty in Glengate, Kirriemuir on September 8, in that he struggled violently as they attempted to apprehend him.
Fiscal depute Hannah Kennedy said: “Police traced the accused at 1.50am and he fought them extremely violently. It took four officers to restrain him and take him into custody.”
Defence agent Bob Bruce said Livie’s response was due to his “panicking” that an arrest would stop him from going on a holiday he had booked to go to Spain the next morning.
“The police very charitably allowed him to go on his holiday,” he added.
Livie was fined £500, to be paid by April 30.
