Craigtoun Park party put on hold because of weather
ByThe Courier Reporter
Plans for a major reopening event at Craigtoun Country Park, near St Andrews, on Friday have been postponed due to inclement weather and forecasts for the day.
Organisers behind the event, Friends of Craigtoun Country Park, took the decision to postpone the event rather than go ahead and face a last-minute cancellation.
The park will still open again to the public on Friday, with attractions operating dependent on weather conditions. It will remain open daily from 10am throughout the school holiday fortnight and at weekends until the end of June.
The programme for the reopening event had included bands to dancers, a pipe band, model boat regatta and a host of exhibitors and trade stands around the park. It is now hoped the event can take place over the weekend of June 29/30.
Friends chairman Kyffin Roberts expressed the organising committee’s disappointment in taking the decision to cancel.
The last weekend of June will see the start of daily opening for the summer holidays.
