Musicians to band together to help save Dunfermline

Fans of crisis-hit Dunfermline Athletic are being urged to get themselves along to two music gigs next week aimed at raising much-needed funds for the Fife club.

Two ‘Save the Pars’ concerts are to be held in PJ Molloys on Friday April 12 and Saturday April 13, with all proceeds going towards alleviating the Pars’ financial plight.

The Draymin, Modern Faces, Crayons, Shamanic, Honk and the Moon Kids are among the bands signed up to play and organisers hope to rake in at least £6,000 for the cause.

The First Division club are desperate to solve their immediate cash-flow problem after entering interim administration last week, due to an unpaid £134,000 tax bill.

Administrators PKF need at least £100,000 of working capital to see the club through to the end of the season, meaning events like the gigs next week could be crucial if the Pars are to survive into the summer at least.

Legend Jim Leishman commented: “Over the last month or so, the young bands of Dunfermline have been asking what they can do to help the Pars.

“The Draymin boys phoned on Saturday night and said they want to come and play a gig to help the cause. Some quick phone calls around everyone in the Dunfermline music scene showed this was something they all wanted to do.

“It’s brilliant.”

Tickets cost £10 per day and are available from PJ Molloys.
