Annoyed Comrie residents have taken to sticking red flags in dog mess left outside their homes by dog walkers.
People living in the Aros Field estate bought the red flags in the hope that highlighting the faeces would encourage dog owners to pick up after their pets.
However, the flags were used up within a matter of days and walkers are still allowing their dogs to foul on the verges. Malcolm Allan came up with the flag idea.
He said: “The problem is on the grass verges in front of our houses, which are the nearest grassy areas for a lot of people who exercise their dogs.
“We are quite happy for them to walk dogs there, but we want them to pick up the mess afterwards, which isn’t happening.”
He added: “People must be aware they are being watched now and we hope it might make them think about cleaning the dog mess up.”
The residents are meeting with Perth and Kinross Council’s dog warden to find out what further action can be taken to solve the problem.
