A man appeared in court accused of stabbing and attempting to murder a woman in Tayport in the early hours of Friday.
Robbie Stewart Lowther, 23, of Cross Street, Tayport, appeared in private at Dundee Sheriff Court on Saturday charged with attempted murder.
It is alleged that in the early hours of Friday, at Craig Road, in Tayport, Lowther assaulted the woman by seizing hold of her and striking her with a knife or similar instrument to her severe injury, permanent disfigurement and endangerment of her life.
Lowther made no plea or declaration during the short petition hearing before Sheriff Elizabeth Munro.
The woman was taken to Ninewells Hospital with abdominal injuries. Her condition is unknown.
The case was continued for further examination and Lowther was remanded in custody.
