Have you seen this car? police forces puzzled by mystery motor

It’s a mystery even the police cannot solve.

A Volvo panda car was left parked in a Dundee city centre disabled parking bay for more than an hour but no one knows who it belongs to.

Tayside Police said they believed the cheeky parker was from neighbouring Fife Constabulary.

But the Fife force denied the Volvo estate, left in the blue badge holders’ bay in Whitehall Street, was theirs.

Businessman Arfan Ul-Haq (27), who runs a nearby newsagents, said: ”It’s pathetic, to be honest. Someone should take responsibility.

”We would get hassle from the police if we parked there. We even get hassle when we park in the loading bay to bring in stock.”

The car was parked in the city centre space last Tuesday, according to a restaurant manager, who asked not to be identified.

They said: ”It was there for quite a while, well over an hour. I remember thinking they’d maybe pulled someone over, but they were there far too long for that.”

Shoppers were angry the car had occupied the bay reserved for disabled people.

Isobel Stuart (80), whose late husband used a wheelchair, said: ”It’s scandalous. The police should know better than anybody that it’s wrong. They’re the ones who should be setting an example.”

Katie Cameron (20) said: ”It seems to be one rule for them and another for us.”

Chantelle Murray (25) said: ”They think because they wear a badge, they can do what they want. It makes me so angry.”

Dennis Smith (43) added: ”It’s not acceptable, really.”

A Tayside police spokeswoman claimed: ”The car belongs to Fife Constabulary.”

A spokesman for Fife said: ”We can categorically state this vehicle does not belong to us.”Can you shed any light on the blue badge bay mystery? Contact our newsdesk on 01382 575130 or email news@thecourier.co.uk.
