THE VICTIM of a brutal weekend assault in Perth is recovering in hospital.
The 24-year-old man was attacked in the city centre at 11pm on Saturday.
Police said the victim and two men were seen walking down an alleyway which runs from Murray Street to Foundry Lane, beside the Perth Playhouse Cinema, before a scuffle broke out.
The victim was initially treated at Perth Royal Infirmary for apparently minor injuries and discharged.
However, his condition subsequently deteriorated and he was admitted to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.
A police spokesperson appealed for witnesses and said the victim is recovering from a head injury.
He said: “The first suspect is described as being aged 20 to 30 years old, big build, with short brown hair, wearing a white T-shirt with a black motif on front, blue jeans and white trainers.
“The second suspect is described as being aged mid 20s, with brown hair, wearing a purple/pink hooded top, blue jeans and brown shoes.
“Officers are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area of Foundry Lane or at the nearby taxi-rank to come forward.”
