THE ORGANISERS of the New Year’s Day dook at Broughty Ferry harbour are hoping for a record entry. Ye Amphibious Ancients Bathing Association want to see if they can persuade more than 450 people to brave the waters. Club president Joyce McIntosh said: “We’re hoping we can smash through the record. The numbers signing up suggest it could be our biggest yet. “Last year we had more than 300 at 10am. This year it is at 2.30pm so it is better from the spectators’ point of view.” A Boys’ Brigade band will provide musical entertainment leading up to the dook and there will be a competition for the best entrants in fancy dress. Joyce said: “We have already had about 100 people sign up online and through the post, but we get a lot on the day.” Anyone wishing to register can visit wwwyeaaba.org.uk. Entry is £15, with the proceeds going to support the group’s swimming activities.
