ByThe Courier Reporter
A DRIVER was flown to hospital with serious injuries yesterday following a head-on car crash on a Fife road.
The elderly man was taken by air ambulance to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee after the red Subaru Forrester he was driving collided with a blue Rover on the A91 between Strathmiglo and Gateside.
He is understood to have sustained damage to both of his legs and his back following the collision, which occurred at around 2.10pm.
Crews from Fife Fire and Rescue Service required cutting gear to remove the roof of the 4×4 before freeing the man.
Paramedics and a trauma team treated him at the scene before requesting the attendance of the air ambulance to speed his transfer to hospital in Dundee.
The driver of the other vehicle had minor facial injuries.
The collision caused some significant traffic disruption as police closed the road to allow the emergency services to go about their work.
Fife Constabulary appealed for any witnesses or anybody with information regarding the collision to contact them on 0845 6005702.
