Staff contacted customers and were working to resolve the problem which affected Piperdam, Liff, Auchterhouse, Lunanhead, Edzell and Basin View areas. Angus Council spent more than £269,000 on the vehicles which take library books to locals and unlock a host of other services. The investment included two new vehicles and a smaller transit van to reach the county’s rural residents. The scheme was introduced following a consultation over routes and services to be provided by the new vehicles. A council spokeswoman said: “Staff have contacted customers and are working to resolve the problem. “Any customers wishing further information or to renew their library books should call 01307 476477.” Rural communities form a third of the population in Angus and the council has a statutory duty to provide a satisfactory library service for all.
