ST JOHNSTONE have signed Ross County captain Richie Brittain on a pre-contract agreement for next season,
The midfielder, who has spent four-and-a-half years in the Highlands, was out of contract in the summer.
It’s a transfer laced with irony, as only in September Lomas was furious with Brittain when he felt the former Livingston man got Rowan Vine sent off at Victoria Park when the two came together off the ball.
The Northern Irishman said at the time: “Brittain’s reaction was an absolute scandal.
“He is a very good player but for him to go down like that to try to get a player sent off? He should be disgusted with himself.
“He is meant to be a competitive midfield enforcer but he should be embarrassed with what he did. For me, it’s cheating.”
The blast at Brittain earned Lomas a two-game suspended touchline ban from the SFA.
Lomas has never hidden the fact he was an admirer of the player, though.
He has scored five goals in 21 appearances this season, including an equaliser against Celtic in August.
It is likely that Saints’ current midfield general, Murray Davidson, will move on in the summer and Brittain will slot in as a replacement should that happen.
