An appeal for information was launched yesterday following the incident on or near to the A90, close to Stonehaven. The 33-year-old woman got into a car with a man in Allardice Street, Stonehaven, following the town’s annual Fireballs Festival on Hogmanay. After driving a short distance north on the dual carriageway, the vehicle pulled off the road. The attack took place between 1am and 3am on January 1, as thousands of people left the area. The attacker is thought to be in his fifties and was wearing a red hat and long dark coat. The car is described as a silver or grey five-door hatchback. It is understood the woman remained in the car as it rejoined the road and continued on to Portlethen. Officers from Grampian Police said the victim was, “shaken but uninjured by the incident.” The woman is described as around 5ft 4in, of slim build, with shoulder-length brown hair and glasses.
