AS THE salmon fishing season launches with ceremonies across Scotland today, anglers are being given the chance to bid for a day out on some of the country’s most popular beats, as well as those further afield.
The Perth-based Atlantic Salmon Trust (AST) is once again hosting its fundraising auction and highlights include a week on Loch Tay with full use of a lodge and boat, a four-day break for two enjoying Canada’s rivers and a week in Russia.
Bids can be placed until February 14 and, based on the popularity of last year’s event, even more opportunities are available this time round.
AST chief executive Tony Andrews said: “The auction is always a hugely popular event.
“It’s a high point of our year, not only because it raises funds to continue our work, but because it introduces anglers to new rivers and maybe even new countries.
“We are immensely grateful for the generosity our donors display and we hope they are rewarded by forming ongoing relationships with new clients who come to them via the auction.”
