COWDENBEATH’S LAST remaining Spaniard, Pablo Navas, stepped up his fight for a place in the Blue Brazil’s starting line-up by playing in a reserve game against Queen’s Park on Monday.
Navas’ fellow countrymen, Ruben Garcia Ray and Albert Puigdollers, have both returned home recently, after growing homesick.
But attacking midfielder Navas remains despite a thigh injury impacting his season adversely.
Player-manager Colin Cameron said: “Pablo needs games to get established in our first team and playing in reserve games will help.”
Meanwhile, a parting of the ways between goalkeeper Darren Hill and Arbroath looks on the cards, after Gayfield manager Paul Sheerin agreed to listen to requests for his services.
The 31-year-old joined the Red Lichties in 2008 and has played nearly 200 games.
Hill broke an arm this season against Ayr United and lost his place to Scott Morrison who has signed an extended deal after a fine run of form.
Montrose will put tickets for their second league visit to Ibrox to face Rangers on sale from 6pm today.
The game between Stuart Garden’s promotion-chasing side and Ally McCoist’s league leaders will take place on Saturday January 26 and tickets for away fans will cost £17 for adults, £13 for concessions and under-16s £5.
Tickets will be sold from the Willie Johnston Lounge from 6pm to 8pm tonight and then Saturday January 19 10am-noon, Monday January 21 6-7pm, and Tuesday January 22 6-7pm.
