ByThe Courier Reporter
High-speed fibre broadband is now available to the first homes and businesses in Arbroath as well as more premises in Dundee.
More than 11,100 households and firms in Arbroath and 6,600 in Dundee’s Baxter exchange area are joining the high-speed revolution as engineers complete the investment in the coming weeks.
Fibre is already available in Montrose, Broughty Ferry and Fairmuir and Park exchange areas in Dundee.
Brechin, Forfar and Kirriemuir are also due to be upgraded as part of BT’s £2.5 billion fibre roll-out programme.
BT Scotland director Brendan Dick said: “This is more good news for Angus and Dundee which will bring a welcome boost for the local communities concerned.
“Research suggests that within 15 years fibre broadband could bolster the economy of a typical town by £143 million and create 225 new jobs, 140 new start-up businesses and 1,000 more homeworkers.”
