Tattoo doubt led Perth man to breach bail condition
ByThe Courier Reporter
A man who called his former girlfriend from a tattoo parlour to check his daughter’s date of birth has been sentenced to carry out unpaid work for breaching bail.
William Duff (21) had been banned from contacting Lauren Russell but did so to check his daughter’s birth date as he was about to have it and her name inked on his skin.
Perth Sheriff Court heard that Duff, of Lewis Place, Perth, was unable to remember if she was born on the 19th or the 29th of the month.
Defence agent David Holmes told the court the contact was made on Tuesday “only to ask the date of his daughter’s birth”.
He added that Duff had attempted to contact Ms Russell through “legal means” prior to calling and texting her.
Duff pleaded guilty on Thursday and was sentenced to 40 hours of unpaid work as part of a community payback order.
Sheriff Andrew Webster warned Duff: “When a court grants bail and imposes conditions, you are expected to abide by those conditions.”
He added that a further breach could result in further punishment.
