An Angus woman who shunted a parked car down a road while more than four times over the limit was fined and banned.
Margaret Thomson (51), of Balfour Cottages at Menmuir near Brechin, appeared at Forfar Sheriff Court where she admitted the charge, relating to an incident on December 3 last year.
Depute fiscal Hannah Kennedy said: “Just after 12.40pm, the accused left her house and got into her motor vehicle. There had been a heavy snow fall that day.
“She got a short distance down the road and collided with a stationary vehicle. She continued to drive and shunted the vehicle and ran out of road.
“It was clear that she was under the influence of alcohol and the police were contacted. By this time the accused has gone back in her house and the police attended.
“They asked her if she had been drinking within the last 20 minutes or so and she said no. Police could see that she had been and she was detained and taken to the station.”
The fiscal added that police tried to administer a breathalyser test but Thomson was so drunk she could not complete the test.
However, she added that the initial reading showed the accused to have been more than four times over the limit.
Thomson’s defence agent Bob Bruce said: “She had a drink in her house and appreciates that she shouldn’t have.”
Sheriff Veal fined Thomson £500 for driving while unfit through drink or drugs and £150 for colliding and damaging the stationary vehicle and blocking the road during the incident.
He also disqualified the accused for two years and Thomson was offered the opportunity to participate in a drink driving rehabilitation course.
