Police asked to investigate claims at Broughty Ferry care home

Police have been called in to investigate an alleged incident at a Broughty Ferry care home.

It is understood that a complaint was made following an incident at Redwood House.

A source claimed a staff member had allegedly struck one of the residents at the care home on Seafield Road, which is run by the Kennedy Care group.

A police spokeswoman said: “We can confirm we received a complaint about the conduct of member of staff at a care home in Dundee. Inquiries into the matter are continuing.”

A spokeswoman for the Care Inspectorate said the body was aware of the incident.

She said: “We have been notified by the provider of an incident at Redwood Care Home and the Care Inspectorate is in close contact with the relevant authorities the police and the adult protection team at the social work department. “The safety and well-being of service users is of the upmost importance to us and we would encourage anyone with concerns about standards of care practice to contact us on 0845 600 9527.”

An inspection of the care home last year flagged up concerns over the way staff spoke to residents.
