An Angus woman has become the envy of her friends and girls across the globe after winning a guitar signed by pop sensations One Direction.
Erin Mowatt (21) from Arbroath did not even know she was in with a chance of winning the Freshman acoustic guitar after her father secretly entered her into a raffle at Abbey Music shop just before Christmas.
Erin’s name was then drawn out of a hat the day after her 21st birthday in December and was announced as the winner of the raffle by the owner of Abbey Music Jim Addison.
The 1D fan said she was delighted to get her hands on the coveted piece of pop memorabilia.
Erin said: “I was shocked when I found out about it because I got it just after my 21st birthday and I didn’t even know my dad had entered me.
“I’m going to see the band in February with my friends so I’m really looking forward to that. Their music just makes me feel happy and I get excited when they come on the radio or TV. It’s surreal.
“I still can’t believe I’ve won it.”
Erin thanked dad Alan for entering her into the competition and said the guitar was the closest thing she had to meeting the band.
Jim was given the instrument by Sean Kelly, owner of Freshman Guitars, the company that supplies Niall and Liam from One Direction with their instruments.
The boyband signed the guitar for Sean as a favour while backstage at an X Factor tour and it has now found its way into the hands of Erin.
Mr Kelly said he was happy to have made Erin’s day.
He said: “It’s great that it has made her happy and anything that might inspire someone to take up a musical instrument and try to be like their idols is important to us. We’re supporting Jim as a new stockist of ours and he is representing Freshman in that area.
“Doing something like this is quite important to us as a company because we are a brand that supports unsigned artists as opposed to only people that are signed.”
