Dundee United manager Jackie McNamara has urged his players to be the ones to speed out of the pack and motor up the league.
Both United and opponents Hearts are sitting in the middle of a 10-strong body of SPL clubs that are separated by only nine points from second top to second bottom.
A run of victories from any team in the group that is bookended by leaders Celtic and basement boys Dundee would work wonders for them.
McNamara knows that and he would love to see his new side beat the Jam Tarts then string a few successes together.
“There are a lot of teams that will see that wee prize there if they can go on a run,” he said.
“We just have to concentrate on what we do every game and see where it takes us. There is still a lot to play for.”
Some home improvement would not go amiss, of course, with last Saturday’s convincing Scottish Cup win over Rangers their first at their own stadium since August.
“We do want to make it a fortress at home,” added the United boss.
“It hasn’t been so far this season but we had a great support last Saturday and hopefully we can do well in front of them again.
“It is crucial for us, especially, to do better at home because we have shown that we can go to difficult places away from Tannadice and pick up points.
“Hearts will be tough opponents, though, because they have a lot of good players, as do we. There will be a lot of young guys out there for both teams so it will be a game full of energy.
“I have seen Hearts and Michael Ngoo from Liverpool looks like a bit of a handful so we know to be aware and make sure we defend properly.”
McNamara, who admitted he has enjoyed having a full week to get to know his players and prepare for the Hearts game rather than the couple of days he got ahead of the cup-tie, has one or two selection concerns.
Winger Gary Mackay-Steven has had a hamstring problem but he should be fine and the same goes for Keith Watson, who has suffered from stiffness in his knee.
McNamara was awaiting the return of Stuart Armstrong from Scotland under-21 duty in Greece and added: “We will see how Stuart is after being away with the Scotland under-21 team.
“Hopefully, it is a case of no news is good news.”
