Two boys who may have been as young as five are being sought by police for an attack on a bus in Perth.
The passengers on the bus were left shaken but uninjured after the tiny vandals smashed one of the vehicle’s windows with an unidentified missile.
The incident happened on Western Avenue at about 4pm on Tuesday February 5 as the bus made its way from Perth Royal Infirmary towards Rose Crescent.
The actions of the pair, who have been described as being aged between five and 12, were condemned by Tayside Police.
“The implications of throwing any type of missile at a moving vehicle can be very serious indeed for anyone within that vehicle or anyone nearby for that matter,” said a police spokesperson.
“Those who get involved in this reckless behaviour may view it as a bit of harmless fun, but they should consider the potential consequences of their actions as they have the potential to cause serious injury.”
There were 11 passengers on the Stagecoach bus at the time of the attack and, as the service is every 10 minutes, they were not inconvenienced for too long as a result.
The police are keen to track down the passengers to see if they can assist in identifying the culprits. Stagecoach are also urging people to help the police to apprehend those responsible.
A spokeswoman for Stagecoach said: “At around 4pm on Tuesday February 5 one of our vehicles operating service 2 at Perth Royal Infirmary was the subject of vandalism resulting in a broken window towards the rear of the vehicle.
“We are thankful that no one was hurt by this mindless act and would appeal for any witnesses to contact the local constabulary with any information.
“Not only does damage such as this potentially cause injury, it can ultimately affect our level of service in the community causing unnecessary delays to our routes and vehicle substitutions as required.”
