An Angus accountancy student is celebrating achieving the highest worldwide score for an internationally recognised exam.
Caroline Cargill, of Montrose firm Murray Taylor, was awarded the joint top mark for the financial reporting paper of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants qualification.
The body has more than 404,000 students and 140,000 members across the world, with Caroline outscoring all her peers during the exam last year.
The senior trainee was at the Murray Taylor offices in Dundee on Wednesday to pick up her certificate and congratulations from colleagues.
“I chose the ACCA qualification because it is globally recognised and respected yet relevant to our clients in Angus,” she said.
“ACCA continues to have a growing intake of students and members so it is becoming a heavily sought-after qualification by potential employers.
“Combining work with studying for the ACCA exams has meant that I have to discipline myself to study for a certain amount of time every night after a long day in the office.”‘Exceptional’Craig Vickery, head of ACCA Scotland, said, “It is to Caroline’s credit that she has done so well in these exams. The papers within the ACCA qualification are independently rated as among the toughest professional accountancy papers and to have come top in such a competitive environment is exceptional.
“We are certain that this will give Caroline an excellent foundation to build her future career.”
Murray Taylor partner Steve Taylor said, “This is an outstanding achievement by Caroline and we are all delighted for her. Caroline has had to work hard during the working week, often for long hours.
“To combine that with the amount of studying required and to achieve top marks worldwide in her financial reporting paper shows real dedication.”
