Motorists delayed after lorry driver stops in high winds on Forth Road Bridge
ByJonathan Watson
There was traffic chaos this afternoon when a lorry stopped on the Forth Road Bridge due to high winds.
Police spoke to the HGV driver, as there was a closure notice on the crossing for lorries and high-sided vehicles just before 3pm.
Heading northbound, the trucker, believed to be a foreign national, reached the south tower of the bridge before halting due to the strong winds brought by the continuing “weather bomb”.
It caused huge tailbacks on the A90 for those heading from Edinburgh towards Fife.
The driver was escorted from his vehicle by bridge staff.
