Rescuers at Broughty Ferry lifeboat station were scrambled to help a stricken yacht that almost collided with the Tay Bridge.
The 22-foot vessel suffered engine failure west of the rail bridge and, adrift on the tide, it could be seen heading towards an enormous stone pier.
The powerless yachtsman, who has not been named, made an emergency call for assistance prompting the lifeboat station to launch two of its boats at around 6.10pm on Saturday.
Both crews arrived quickly, just in time to pull the yacht out of danger before towing it back to its berth in Newport at around 7.30pm.
It is understood the yachtsman was alone on the leisure trip when the engine failure occurred. No one was injured in the rescue operation.
