A driver emerged unhurt from his badly damaged Ford Focus after the vehicle left the road and struck a metal road sign.
Police, ambulance and firefighters were called out to the incident, which happened in Mauchline Avenue, near its junction with Longtown Terrace, shortly before 1pm on Sunday. It is understood the car had emerged from Pitairlie Road before the accident happened.
The ambulance crew was not required and firefighters disconnected the car’s battery.
Fire crew manager Gary Fox said: ”The front of the car was badly damaged and we disconnected the battery as a precaution as there was a slight oil leak.
”We called out Tayside Contracts to deal with the pole.”
