Police are investigating the circumstances of the accident, which occurred about 2.40pm on Wednesday on the A91 between St Andrews and Guardbridge. Two vehicles were involved in a collision and the 79-year-old driver of one of the vehicles suffered serious injuries. He was taken to Ninewells Hospital, where his conditions was described as critical but stable. The road was closed while a crash investigation was carried out. Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them on 08450 6005702.
