The exported delicacy is, however, only the tip of the iceberg of this year’s production by Simon Howie butchers at its Dunning factory. This year it will sell 200,000 haggis in England through supermarkets, with a further 180,000 feeding demand north of the border. Richard Megahy, of Howie’s Perth shop, said the enduring allure of the haggis was reflected in the sales. “If you are selling that many, people must still be enjoying them,” he said.
