St Andrews University’s legacy of chemistry celebrated

A group of students who looked like they would have been more at home in a chemistry lab took to the Fife Coastal Path on Monday dressed in lab coats and safety goggles.
The museum and gallery studies postgraduates from St Andrews University trekked from Elie to Crail. As well as collecting money for a special exhibition, the 10-mile sponsored hike was to raise awareness of the event and generate interest in chemistry.
This year marks 200 years of the teaching of the subject at the university and is also the International Year of Chemistry.
To celebrate, those studying for a masters in museum and gallery studies will host an exhibition entitled Elements of Genius: The Legacy of Chemistry in St Andrews, in the Gateway Galleries between March 18 and 21.
