Perthshire Rugby Club has combined forces with the Scottish Golden Oldies Rugby Association to stage a beer festival.
Sponsored by Tan International Ltd, a local business with close ties to Perthshire rugby, the beer festival on the North Inch on Saturday is part of a festival of rugby weekend.
There will be a national students sevens tournament on Friday evening and a golden oldies competition on Saturday, from around 10am to 5pm, with the beer tent opening at noon.
The beer festival, which starts at 6.30pm on Saturday, will feature around 28 different beers along with wines, spirits and soft drinks. There will also be live music from local band Solid Gold.
There will be an international mini tournament on Sunday, with teams from France, England, Wales and Scotland attending.
“We are fund-raising for rugby development locally,” said Alastair Anderson of Perthshire Rugby Club, who, along with Allan Brown, thought up the beer festival.
“Perthshire Rugby Football Club has a very successful youth development set-up and reaches throughout the area. We like to think the Saturday evening event will carry broad appeal, luring people who might not be particularly interested in the rugby.”
