St Andrews residents and members of the world’s media were left rubbing their eyes in disbelief as ‘Kate Middleton’ returned to St Salvator’s Quadrangle to offer locals a first glimpse of her wedding dress on Thursday.
In fact, Kate’ was none other than first-year student Cesca Heartfield, who has shot to fame in recent weeks following her role in the internet hit video Royal Romance.
The song, recorded by St Andrews-based a cappella group The Other Guys, has had over 380,000 hits on YouTube.
Cesca plays the royal bride-to-be in the amusing video and agreed to pose for Thursday’s St Andrews photo shoot to support Tea People a fine tea company set up by third-year student Gillian Gamble.
The dress will be among those worn by volunteers serving cuppas to over 2000 guests at the royal wedding breakfast at St Salvator’s.
Gillian set up Tea People in 2009 with her husband Stephen and some friends to provide a sustainable way of fund-raising for the needs of primary schools in Darjeeling.
“We believe that we can use tea as a powerful sustainable fund-raising tool and medium for social change,” she said.
Gillian and husband Stephen met at St Andrews University and they have helped set up a home for 40 children in south India and plan to develop Tea People so that it can provide support to primary schools in Darjeeling for years to come.
