More than 150 people are expected to gather at the Forth and Tay road bridges for a walking challenge.
Macmillan Cancer Support hopes to raise at least £5000 from the walks, held on the Tay Bridge on May 7 and Forth Bridge on May 8.
While the events have proved very popular among local people, the charity hopes more will sign up before the day of the walk.
Macmillan fund-raising manager April Davidson said, “We have already had a great response from the people across the east of Scotland, in particular Fife, and we hope to raise a lot of money from the event.
“However, we still have places on the walk available and we want to fill them all. I’d urge everyone to consider taking part.To find out more about Miles for Macmillan visit www.macmillan.org.uk/walking or call 01382 226150.”It will be a really fun day and you’ll feel fantastic knowing every step you take will raise money for people affected by cancer.”
The bridge walks are just one of a string of walks Macmillan has organised as part of its Miles for Macmillan walking programme, which has been launched in partnership with Boots UK.
All the money raised through Miles for Macmillan will help Macmillan provide medical, financial, practical and emotional support to the two million people living with cancer in the UK.
April concluded, “If the times of the walks at the bridges don’t suit you, then why not organise your own fund-raising walk at a time and place that works for you?
“We’ll give you the support you need to make sure it’s a great success.”
