A Dalgety Bay man has set off on a 1000-mile charity cycle.
David Reid (68) began his gruelling challenge on Wednesday at Land’s End and is hoping to finish on May 20 at John O’Groats.
Mr Reid a retired regional officer for the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Scotland said, “This will be a massive challenge, but I have been cycling for a fairly long time.
“However, I haven’t cycled for 15 days consecutively 1000 miles is a long way to go!”
Mr Reid is undertaking the cycle to raise money for Christian charity Barnabas Fund, which helps to relieve suffering in many countries through health care, education and training.
He added, “I’m trying to raise awareness of the plight of the people that Barnabas supports. They carry out work in 80 countries and are not as big as the likes of Christian Aid.
“They are relatively unknown but help with matters like education, medical aid, housing and help people on how to support themselves. They have helped people in countries like Pakistan.”
Mr Reid has tried his hand at gliding, power flying and sailing and has retained a keen interest in both walking and cycling for the past decade.
