The creative juices were flowing at the final of this year’s Junior Mastercook competition at Blairgowrie High School.
The competition began with over 320 first- and second-year pupils competing in cook-offs, boiled down to Monday’s 15 finalists.
They were briefed to create a healthy main course using fresh local produce, judged by Jonny Greer, head chef at Murrayshall Hotel, and Bill McNicoll, head chef at The Huntingtower Hotel.
Winner Alexis Ramsay has a summer place at the Nick Nairn Foodies and Future Chefs class at the Nick Nairn Cook School.
Rector Gordon Millar said, “I am delighted that our young pupils are so creative they have produced some fabulous mouthwatering dishes using local produce.”
Head of home economics, Lynn Smith, said, “The aim of the competition is to encourage pupils to show off their culinary prowess and enhance their self esteem and educate them in healthy eating.
“I am delighted to see the standards and pupil commitment to the competition gets better ever year.”
