Glenrothes granny’s Harley-Davidson dream comes true

A great-gran’s dream came true when she rode on the back of a Harley-Davidson.
Joan Douglas (85), of Glenrothes, had always wanted to travel on one of the powerful, iconic motorcycles.
When George McLennan, a member of the Royal British Legion Scotland Riders Branch, heard of her ambition from his son, a friend of one of her granddaughters, he decided to help her realise it and arranged to take his bike to her home.
To the delight of Joan and her family, who had gathered to see her trip-of-a-lifetime, he and fellow branch members went a step further and brought a whole fleet of bikes. With George and Joan leading the way on his 1450cc Electra Glide, seven bikes roared around the streets where Joan lives in Collydean.
Joan is no stranger to two wheels, having once had her own moped.
But for longer than she can remember, she had wanted to climb into the saddle of a Harley-Davidson.
She described her hurl as “absolutely wonderful” and said, “It’s been ages that I’ve wanted to do that.
“Every time I hear their enginethey’re magical.”
As a memento, Joan was presented with a t-shirt and an honorary club pin by the branch.
