Gary Irvine has put back his decision on whether to stay with Dundee for a few days so he can hear what a couple of SPL clubs have to offer.
The Dens Park defender’s agent has informed him of possible top flight interest, but Irvine pointed out that the deal offered by Barry Smith is the only one on the table.
It is just a one-year contract however, not the two that he had been hoping to secure.
The 26-year-old former Celtic and St Johnstone full-back had planned to have his future settled by now, but he promised he would not keep Dundee waiting for too much longer.
Irvine said, “I’ve spoken to my agent and he’s told me there’s maybe a bit of interest from a couple of SPL clubs. I’ll hold off until the end of the week and then I’ll make my decision.
“I’ve got to be fair to Dundee as well. Theirs is the only concrete offer that’s been made. I’ll definitely make a decision by the end of this week.
“I had been hoping to get a two-year deal. I’ve got a baby on the way and security is very important. I’ve found that out in the past.
“I’ve just got to get my head round the fact that it’s a one-year deal. Everything else would make me delighted to sign for Dundee again.
“It’s been great to see most of my team-mates sign up again and there are definitely lots of positive reasons to stay.”
