Call for drivers’ patience during next phase of waterfront development

Work on the £500,000 project to realign one of the major routes through Dundee Waterfront starts this month.
The next phase in the Central Waterfront’s transformation will see South Marketgait realigned at its junction with Commercial Street.
Starting on June 14, the work which is fundamental to delivering the waterfront vision will be completed in the autumn. The development is one of the reasons why the V&A is coming to the city.
Dundee Waterfront Board chairman Ken Guild said, “Dundee City Council, its partners and the contractor have put in a great deal of effort carefully planning the job to minimise disruption but this crucial work will also need the co-operation and patience of drivers and local businesses and residents.”
South Marketgait will be closed to eastbound traffic at City Quay roundabout. Drivers travelling in this direction at this location will be diverted via the inner ring road. Those seeking access to Commercial Street, Gellatly Street, Trades Lane and Dock Street will be encouraged to use the Seagate.
