A man was due to appear in court today after the victim of an alleged assault in Rosyth almost three weeks ago died.
Alexander Ormiston (63) died at Edinburgh’s Western General Hospital over the weekend from injuries sustained in the alleged attack.
Mr Ormiston was injured in the incident in Peasehill Fauld some time late on Wednesday, May 18, or early on Thursday, May 19. He did not report the incident at the time.
Indeed, police were only made aware of the incident after he was treated in hospital several days later.
Mr Ormiston had been in a critical condition at Western General since the incident, but lost his fight for life late on Friday, police said.
Mr Ormiston’s next of kin have been informed of his passing, although they were said to be too upset to talk.
Detectives confirmed that a 30-year-old man had been taken into custody in connection with the death. The man was due to appear at Dunfermline Sheriff Court on Tuesday.
