Former St Mirren defender John Potter is well aware of speculation linking him with Dunfermline and St Johnstone, but he has insisted that neither club has made him an offer.
The experienced centre-back has admitted that a move to both SPL sides would appeal.
He said, “I’ve been reading the papers like everybody else but I’ve left everything to my agent.
“I’ve told him to get in touch with me if there’s a contract offer.”
The attraction of becoming a Par for the second time in his career is an obvious one for the 31-year-old.
He added, “I was born in the area and I still live here, and obviously I played for the club as well.
“I’ve been linked with Dunfermline and it’s a move that would appeal to me, but it would appeal to a lot of players because it’s a great club with a great history.”‘Excellent’ McInnesPotter said, “They won promotion back to the SPL last season and they’re clearly a club going in the right direction. You never know.”
As for the possibility of making the transition from Paisley Saint to Perth Saint, Potter said, “I’ve never spoken to Derek McInnes.
“I’ve been linked with them since before I left St Mirren. They signed a centre-back in Frazer Wright last week so I don’t know if they’re looking for another one.
“But it’s another great club with an excellent young manager.”
Potter has been keeping himself ticking over so that he’s in good shape when he signs for a new team.
He said, “I’m doing my usual routine. I’m not missing out on anything just now because clubs don’t come back for pre-season for another week or two.
“Hopefully something will happen soon.”
