Young girl loses foot in accident at Mains of Murthly Farm in Aberfeldy

A 10-year-old girl has lost a foot in an accident on a Perthshire farm this morning.
Tayside Police say they were called to Mains of Murthly Farm in Aberfeldy shortly after 11am following a report of an industrial accident.
They say early inquiries indicate the girl had been walking alongside a tractor pulling a lawn mower trailer when she slipped under the mower, amputating her right foot.
A local doctor administered first aid while awaiting the arrival of an air ambulance from Glasgow. She was then flown to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee for further assessment and treatment. Her condition is described as serious but not life threatening.
Police say that, as with all industrial accidents, the Health and Safety Executive has been informed and a representative will be attending to carry out their own inquiries. For more on this story, see Friday’s Courier.
