Barry Smith thinks Dundee FC’s scare against Arbroath will act as wake-up call

Dundee boss Barry Smith believes last weekend’s cup scare at Arbroath has given his team the warning they need ahead of Saturday’s trip to Dumbarton.
They needed extra time to get past the second division side six days ago, and face another lower league team this weekend in the Scottish Communities League Cup.
Smith wants an improvement this time out. He said, “There will be no disrespect shown to Dumbarton.
“If we’re not up for Saturday then they’ll make it very difficult for us just like Arbroath did.
“After what happened up at Arbroath it might actually be a good thing as far as this tie is concerned.
“It’s maybe made the players here realise there are no easy games now, no matter who you face. Dumbarton are a big, physical side with decent players … so we’ll have to be careful.”
Dundee will be without striker Graham Bayne for the second Saturday in a row. The ex-Dunfermline man suffered a training ground setback with his calf injury.
Smith said, “Graham has maybe pushed himself a bit too hard too early.”
